All Ages Stick & Puck

All Ages Stick & Puck is a 50 minute program where players provide the sticks & pucks, and we provide the ice and 4 nets.

As an unstructured ice time, players can practice their skills. Organized hockey games, slap shots, and structured practices are not permitted. Full CSA-approved hockey equipment required, including helmets with facemasks, for all skaters and goalies. Maximum adult-to-child ratio on the ice is 1 adult to 3 children (under 10 years of age).

Guidelines

Public Skating:

To accommodate other events, skating programs are sometimes affected. Reminders will be placed in facilities well in advance of such changes. Please check our skating schedule for updates and cancellations. Public skating guidelines apply to all skating events where the public are invited to skate, including: shinny/pick-up hockey, public skating, family, senior and adult skates. This includes skating at the outdoor rink in Carl Zehr Square, community arenas, and The Aud.

  • Food & beverage consumption - is permitted in the arena lobby and spectator seating areas only.
  • Games, hockey games or hockey sticks - No games are to be played at any time that will endanger the safety and/or enjoyment of others. This includes hockey games, or the use of hockey sticks.
  • Keeping pace - Avoid excessively fast skating and stopping (socializing), which could interfere with traffic flow.
  • Shoes - No shoes allowed unless assistance is being provided to help tots to skate in the cordoned off area or during a family skating session.
  • Skating aids - Skating aids are available on a limited basis (please see arena attendant). Strollers, chairs, toboggans and wagons not permitted.
  • Wheelchairs/sledges - Wheelchairs, wheelchair skates and sledges are welcome on Municipal arenas and outdoor rinks. Individuals using these devices must travel in the same direction as the other skaters. Attendants/helpers are welcome to assist individuals however they must wear skates. 
  • Where there are admission charges to an arena for public skating, the attendant/helper is admitted at no-charge upon presentation of a PAL Card. To apply for a PAL Card and/or to reserve wheelchair skates and sledges, please contact 519-741-2220 ext. 7225 or TTY 1-866-969-9994.
  • Use of helmets - Helmets are recommended for all skaters.
  • Carrying of infants/children - Children must not be carried by any means (e.g. sitting on shoulders, being carried in arms or carried in equipment such as "snugglies" or in back packs).
  • Sitting on boards - Patrons may not sit on the rink boards at any time.
  • Figure skating - is permitted at the discretion of the arena attendant.

 

Youth Ice Hockey Shinny:

  • Parent/Guardian must stay on site in case of emergency.
  • Dressing rooms will be opened 30 minutes prior to the ice time.
  • NO REFEREES. On-ice cruisers are there for player safety only.
  • No body contact or body checking.
  • Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated (e.g., fighting, talking back, taunting, etc.).
  • Fighting will result in expulsion from the program.
  • Age groups are Atom (9 and 10 year-olds), Peewee (11 and 12 year-olds), and Bantam (13 and 14 year-olds).
  • Floods will take place after 50 minutes.
  • Athletes register via PickupHub (that is how teams are determined).
  • The timekeeper will implement 2 minute shifts (subject to change at the discretion of the timekeeper).
  • Full equipment including a CSA approved helmet is required (e.g., full, visor or cage, neck guard, etc.).
  • Athletes will play by the rules of hockey, and in the spirit of the game.
  • Athletes will respect all participants and staff.
  • Athletes will be given warnings for minor behavioural violations (3 strikes and they are out...on the 3rd strike).
    • Important: Warnings will not be given in all circumstances. Players can be asked to leave immediately based on staff’s discretion.

 

Youth Ball Hockey Shinny:

  • Parent/Guardian must stay on site in case of emergency.
  • Dressing rooms will be opened 10 minutes prior to the floor time.
  • NO REFEREES. Staff are on the floor for player safety only.
  • No body contact or body checking.
  • Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated (e.g., fighting, talking back, taunting, etc.).
  • Fighting will result in expulsion from the program.
  • Age groups are Atom (9 and 10 year-olds), Peewee (11 and 12 year-olds), and Bantam (13 and 14 year-olds).
  • Players register via PickupHub (that is how teams are determined).
  • The timekeeper will implement 2 minute shifts (subject to change at the discretion of the timekeeper).

Adult/Senior Shinny:

  • Dressing rooms will be opened 30 minutes prior to the ice time.
  • NO REFEREES. On-ice cruisers are there for player safety only.
  • No body contact or body checking.
  • Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated (e.g., fighting, talking back, taunting, etc.).
  • Fighting will result in expulsion from the program.
  • Floods will take place after 50 minutes.
  • Adult Shinny: Athletes register via PickupHub (that is how teams are determined).
  • Senior Shinny: No registration required. Pay at Boston Pizza Fan Services booth. When available, choose the pace of game which suits your play best (slower or faster).
  • The timekeeper will implement 2 minute shifts (subject to change at the discretion of the timekeeper).
  • Full equipment including a CSA approved helmet is required (e.g., full, visor or cage, neck guard, etc.).
  • Athletes will play by the rules of hockey, and in the spirit of the game.
  • Athletes will respect all participants and staff.
  • Athletes will be given warnings for minor behavioural violations (3 strikes and they are out...on the 3rd strike).
    • Important: Warnings will not be given in all circumstances. Players can be asked to leave immediately based on staff’s discretion.

 

All-Ages Stick & Puck Guidelines:

  • Public Skating fees apply for all skaters, including goalies. It is recommended players register on-line for preferred time slot.
  • If you sign up and drop out within 12 hours of game time, your account will be charged if the game runs.
  • All-Ages Stick & Puck is a 50 minute program. 
  • Full CSA-approved hockey equipment required, including helmets with facemasks, for all skaters and goalies. Chinstraps must be fastened.
  • Parent/Guardian must stay on site in case of emergency.
  • Maximum adult-to-child ratio on the ice is 1 adult to 3 children (under 10 years of age).
  • Sticks and pucks permitted, not provided.
  • 4 nets provided on the ice.
  • Unstructured ice time only. No private programs.
    • Important: Organized hockey games, slap shots, and structured practices are not permitted. (e.g. No practice tools such as pylons).
  • All-Ages Stick & Puck is limited to a maximum total of 40 skaters and goalies on the ice at one time.
  • Body contact is not permitted. Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated (e.g. Fighting, talking back, taunting, etc.).
  • Fighting will result in expulsion from All-Ages Stick & Puck.
  • Floods will take place after 50 minutes.
  • Athletes will respect all participants and staff.
  • Athletes will be given warnings for minor behavioural violations (3 strikes and they are out ... on the 3rd strike).
    • Important: Warnings will not be given in all circumstances. Players can be asked to leave immediately based on staff's discretion.
